HOSPITALIST PROGRAM

The hospitalist program is part of a well-established practice of using physician specialists for patients in the hospital.  Hospitalists are hospital-based physicians with no outpatient office practice who specialize in treating inpatients.  Each hospitalist works as a member of the team to ensure our patients receive prompt, high quality continuity of care and maintains communication with the patients’ primary care physician.

It is the decision of each individual physician or group practice to use the hospitalist program during the patients stay.  Frankfort Regional has partnered with a private practice, Kentucky Inpatient Medicine Associates, to provide this care. 

Each physician is board certified in internal medicine and has extensive hospital-based training. When a patient is referred, the hospitalist physician receives background information about the patient’s medical history and the reason for admission. The hospitalist and the patient’s personal physician work together closely as the patient is discharged.
