WOMEN'S SERVICES

The Center for Women’s Health offers healthcare services crossing the lifespan of a woman.  The Center for Women’s Health is located on the second floor of the hospital and has seven spacious private labor rooms that allow the mother to labor, deliver, and recover in the same bed, in the same room. The Center for Women’s Health also has its own operating room for the client needing a caesarean section, and 13 private postpartum rooms.

Some pregnancies are high-risk and demand a specialized level of care during both pregnancy and delivery. Other pregnancies may encounter unexpected problems. At birth, many of these babies require the care of a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).  The Level II nursery provides specialized medical care for newborns, so that parents can stay within the community to deliver.  Plus, mothers and babies won’t have to be separated to get the care they need – making life much easier on mom.

Learn more about our free weekly e-mail messages for expectant and new parents.  This service provides customized information, news and rescources from the parent education staff.  During pregnancy, the hospital's messages include week-by-week information on fetal development, wellness tips, and valuable resources. After the baby is born, messages offer child development information, practical tips on baby care, health and safety, and other topics of special interest to new parents.

The Center for Women’s Health cares for all types of postoperative gynecological surgeries including traditional and laparoscopic procedures such as hysterectomy, endometrial ablation, laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy (LSH), and stress urinary incontinence surgery.

The Center for Women’s Health follows the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN) guidelines for staffing and for evidence-based clinical practice guidelines. All of our nursing staff are certified in Fetal Heart Monitoring and Neonatal Resuscitation.

Our professional nursing staff focuses on the privacy and comfort of our patients while supporting a flexible approach in support of the new family as evidenced by “rooming in” or using a traditional nursery for newborn care.  For more information about our baby nursery, visit the Baby Center.

Your safety and health are of paramount importance to us.  Our Newborn Nursery uses the HUGS infant security system to prevent infant abduction.  The Center for Women’s Health also uses the new Alaris “Safe” IV pumps for all our patient’s intravenous fluid and pain medication needs.

We're also proud to offer a comprehensive Breast Care Center to make the prevention, early detection and treatment of breast cancer as convenient and comfortable as possible.

The Center for Women's Health offers several support classes for our families, including:

  • Prepared Childbirth Class
  • Baby Basics (Baby Care for the first few weeks)
  • Breastfeeding Basics (taught by International Board Certified Lactation Consultants)
  • "That’s My Baby” Sibling Class

The Center for Women’s Health is fortunate to be associated with quality physicians, including specialists in obstetrics and gynecology, gynecology and gynecological surgery, and pediatrics.  These highly trained professionals work closely with our staff as a team to provide the very best care to you and your loved ones.
