Lee Higginbotham joined Frankfort Regional Medical Center as the Chief Operating Officer in March 2011. In this role he is responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of imaging services, engineering/plant operations, environmental services, food and nutrition services, lab/pathology, pharmacy, neurodiagnostics and sleep services. Lee is also Frankfort Regional's Ethics and Compliance Officer and is responsible for ensuring adherence to all federal and state statutes and overseeing the implementation of the facility's Code of Conduct program.

Prior to joining Frankfort Regional, Lee was the Associate Administrator at CJW Medical Center and Administrator of the Levinson Heart Hospital, a 758-bed tertiary care facility in Richmond, Virginia. While at CJW, Lee had responsibility over the day-to-day management of imaging services, food and nutritional services, maintenance and engineering, safety and security, disaster management, occupational medicine, and pastoral care. As the Administrator of the Levinson Heart Hospital he was also responsible for cardiovascular services, including the cardiac cath/ep labs, pre/post cath, stress labs, echo and vascular labs, cardiac rehab, and the coumadin clinic. Lee also had indirect responsibilities over cardiovascular surgery, the cardiovascular intensive care and stepdown unit, the coronary care unit, and the interventional cardiac unit. The Levinson Heart Hospital was named the #1 Heart Hospital in Virginia from 2007-2009.

Lee began his healthcare career at Danville Regional Medical Center in Danville, Virginia where he served in several capacities in Planning and Marketing and the Service Line Leader for Cardiovascular Services. Lee is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is the recipient of the Regent's Award and Service Award.

Lee earned his Master of Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. He received his bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia where he double majored in History and Political Science.
