National Awards and Honors
Beacon Award
Frankfort Regional Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit received the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence, an award given by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). The award is specifically designated to recognize the nation's top pediatric, progressive, and adult critical care units across a multitude of hospitals. The recognition itself is priceless, as it represents extraordinary commitment to high-quality critical care standards, and dedication to the exceptional care of patients and their families.
The AACN launched the Beacon Award in the fall of 2003. Since then, 132 units (2%) of the estimated 6,000 Intensive Care Units in the United States have been recognized for excellence by this award. Frankfort Regional's ICU is one of only two hospitals in Kentucky to receive the coveted designation.

The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval
Frankfort Regional Medical Center is proud to acknowledge our hospital staff, physicians and administration for achieving the maximum three-year accreditation awarded by The Joint Commission during their 2008 survey of the hospital.
The Joint Commission evaluates the quality and safety of care delivered in over 17,000 health care organizations across the country, and their standards are regarded as the most rigorous in the industry. Frankfort Regional Medical Center demonstrated full compliance with all of the 2008 National Patient Safety Goals.
The hospital's success in passing the survey means we offer our patients exceptional quality care across a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services. It also means that we're on track with our mission to meet the healthcare needs of our community.

Cheers Award
Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), parent company for Frankfort Regional Medical Center, was selected as one of the winners of the 9th Annual Cheers Awards by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP). The Cheers Awards honor individuals, organizations, and companies that have set a superlative standard of excellence for others to follow in the prevention of medication errors and adverse drug events.
HCA was recognized for its record of employing new medication safety technology. The company began an initiative in 2000 that led to rapid deployment of barcoding and electronic medical records in all 186 member hospitals. HCA also testified before the FDA on the need for manufacturers to provide bar codes on unit dose packaging, and required their purchasing group to award immediate contracts to companies providing unit dose medications with readable bar codes.

State Awards and Honors
Best Places to Work in Kentucky
Frankfort Regional Medical Center was chosen as one of the best places to work in Kentucky in 2010 for the fourth consecutive year. Last year, the hospital was selected as the overall best place to work in the state among large-sized companies (250 employees or greater).
The awards program was created in 2005 and is a project of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Kentucky SHRM Council and Best Companies Group. The selection process is based on an assessment of employee policies, procedures and benefits, as well as the results from an internal employee survey.
The Best Places to Work in Kentucky initiative is based on FORTUNE magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work for in America" list. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Kentucky has more than 17,000 privately-owned establishments with 20 or more employees. The goal of Best Places to Work in Kentucky is to raise the bar among the state's employers and create excellence and employee satisfaction in the workplace that will attract talented people for years to come.

Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility
Frankfort Regional Medical Center has been selected as a recipient of the Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility. Frankfort Regional's innovative workplace practices include self-scheduling, flexible hours, and job sharing for staff members.
The Sloan Awards honor organizations of all sizes and all types in Central Kentucky and across the country that are using workplace flexibility as a strategy to increase workplace effectiveness and yield positive business results.
The Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility are part of the When Work Works project, an ongoing initiative of Families and Work Institute, the Institute for a Competitive Workforce (an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce), and the Twiga Foundation. Through When Work Works, these partner organizations provide research, resources, and recognition to employers nationwide. The project shares the results of research on creating effective and flexible workplaces that meet the needs of the 21st century.

Kentucky Hospital Association Quality Award
Frankfort Regional Medical Center received the 2009 Kentucky Hospital Association Quality Award in the 100-250 bed size category. KHA's Quality Award is presented to honor hospital leadership and innovation in quality, safety, and commitment in patient care.
The goals of this award are to: - Raise awareness of the need for an organization-wide commitment to highly reliable, exceptional quality, patient-centered care
- Reward successful efforts to develop and promote improvements in quality of care
- Inspire organizations to systematically integrate and align their quality improvement efforts throughout the organization
- Communicate successful programs and strategies to the hospital field
- Facilitate Kentucky hospitals' alignment of quality initiatives with national initiatives

Local Awards and Honors
We CARE Awards
Frankfort Regional Medical Center was named the winner of the Republic Bank & Trust Company's third annual We CARE Awards for Central Kentucky healthcare companies. Frankfort Regional was selected from among all for-profit and non-profit companies, associations, and government agencies in Frankfort, Georgetown and Lexington. The hospital was a finalist for the award in 2006 and 2007.
Republic Bank's We CARE Award was created as a way to give recognition and appreciation to local companies whose employees are doing great things in their communities. The award was created to publicly congratulate companies who stress the four elements contained in the We CARE name itself - Community, Activity, Recognition and Enterprise.
We CARE winners are based on how they encourage their employees to become involved in volunteer activities either during or after work hours. They are also evaluated on how they support community-based initiatives through philanthropic efforts and neighborhood assistance.

Aster Awards - Excellence In Medical Marketing
The Aster Awards is a medical marketing awards program allowing healthcare organizations and advertising agencies to compete against similarly sized competitors from across the nation and world. Frankfort Regional Medical Center received a Gold award in the Professional Recruitment-Single category in 2008.

The Healthcare Advertising Awards is the oldest, largest and most widely respected healthcare advertising awards competition. Frankfort Regional Medical Center received a Bronze Award at the 25th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards for the physician/staff recruitment in the category of Recruitment CD-Rom.

Hermes Creative Awards
Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional materials and programs, and emerging technologies. Frankfort Regional Medical Center received a Platinum Award in the CD Based Multi-Media category for it's recruitment CD-Rom. The hospital also received a Gold Award for in the category for Web Site Overall, and an Honorable Mention for it's community newsletter, Your Health, for Publications/Newsletter.

Kentucky Society for Healthcare Public Relations & Marketing Thoroughbred Awards Competition
The Thoroughbred Awards Competition, sponsored by the Kentucky Society for Healthcare Public Relations & Marketing (KSHPRM) and the Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA), is designed to recognize Marketing/Public Relations professionals who achieved excellence in projects ranging from publications and multimedia programs to advertising and fund raising.
Frankfort Regional Medical Center received a Certificate of Merit in both the Audiovisual/Video and External Newsletter categories.
